Tiberias

Home

John 21:3 ** Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him “We are going with you also.”  They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.

Early in HIS ministry, Christ Jesus caught the attention of these same disciples with a miraculous catch of fish (Luke 5:1-11). The resurrected Lamb of God now wished to again get their attention at the same Sea of Tiberias also called Sea of Galilee.  The second coming miraculous catch of fish was to alert the disciples that reverting back to fishing or retiring was not the desire of Christ or Father God.

The desire of our Lord God for His faithful servants is to continue the ministry they had been called despite the diversity and temporary death of their beloved leader.  Just as the few trained disciples reverted to ‘going fishing’ so have most of the churches quickly forgotten the desire and command of our Lord (Matthew 28:18-20).

Amos 8:11 ** “Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord God, “that I will send a famine on the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord.”

The famine of hearing the words of the Lord rapidly took place by the insane, wicked and evil ruler Nero.   He placed the blame on the believers of the Church of God established at Pentecost in Jerusalem about 30 years previous.  Emperor Nero desired to place the burning of Rome, consisting of seven hills circa 64 AD, on somebody. He used Satan’s way to blame the church. True believers of the Church of God called Christians continue to be persecuted to this day.  Historical records indicate Nero died at age 31 in 68 AD. This particular year also coincided with the death in Rome of the imprisoned Apostle Paul who turned from evil spelled backwards to live in the now rapidly approaching Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10).

The famine of hearing the words of the Lord continues to this day. It recently took place, circa 2010 AD, in a mid- American city called ‘the Rome of America’ because of the similarity of the seven hills of Nero’s Rome.  Instead of feeding the faithful shepherds of God to lions or burning them at the stake, the Rome of America fired hundreds of Pastors and Ministers internationally; or forced them to resign because of the first sin of man against our God. This first deadly sin was because of disobedience of greed by Adam and Eve in the Garden. The slow death of persecution by starvation with no income, health benefits, severance, and etcetera will fill the coffers of ‘the Rome of America’.

Luke 11:17 ** … “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls.”  Verse 52: “Woe to you lawyers!  For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.”  ** Christ spoke these words to the teachers of the law during HIS ministry on earth. The teachers of the law then choked the truth of the Word by teaching their way guided by the god of this world (Satan, II Thessalonians 2:4);  and not the true and faithful love of the law commanded by our Lord God (Jeremiah 31:33, 36).

The Prophet Jeremiah ministered God’s truth in Judah before the fall of Jerusalem in 586 BC.  Jeremiah was shut up in the court of the prison to choke the Word of God; for King Zedekiah instead desired the lies of Satan just as this evil world desires today. Nearly 500 years later, the Apostle Paul also was likewise shut up in a Roman prison to choke the Word of God. The Church of God Messianic continues to be divided against itself to this day for literally hundreds of churches proclaim to be preaching the truth. The Messiah stated mankind worships our Lord God in vain by keeping the commandments of man (Mark 7:7, Matthew 15:9). The Messiah preached these words from Isaiah 29:13.

Because the hundreds of churches, denominations, religions claiming to worship a deity but not following the commandments of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when true worshipers will worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). The truth shall make you free (free from worshipping our Lord God in vain, John 8:32).

II Thessalonians 2:3-4 ** Let no one deceive you by any means; for that day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God (churches), showing himself that he is God.  ** The son of perdition, Satan; for he is a liar and the father of it (John 8:44).

In spite of continued persecution, this is a sign of blessing from God that HE is soon coming to provide joy to those that are persevering and trusting servants. We must continue to express concern for the plight of persecuted believers worldwide by reaching out to them as commanded (Matthew 28:18-20). This great commission summed up the great purpose of the first visit of the Messiah.

I Peter 3:12 ** “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”  ** Repent, be baptized, immersed completely as was the Messiah, ask God to help you change from evil to live!
