Truly Blessed

Ruth 1:16 ** But Ruth said, “Entreat (urge) me not to leave you, or to turn back from following after you, for wherever you go, I will go, your people shall be my people and your God, my God”.

The book of Ruth was written to the people of Israel and today for all mankind; to demonstrate the legitimacy of David’s line leading to the Messiah. This legitimacy was necessary despite the presence of a Moabite (Arab) woman in the ancestry of King David. The family tree of the Messiah has been documented by historians as well as Matthew (Levi) – (Matthew 1:1-16) who left his tax office to follow Christ Jesus. The Gospel of Matthew was written primarily for Jews who believed in Jesus and confessed him as the Son of God. The Gospel of Luke, the beloved physician and historian also does an in depth documentation of the Messiah’s birthright; tracing him to the beginning of creation to son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God (Luke 3:37)

  Because of famine in the land; a Hebrew family with two sons from Bethlehem migrated to Moab (Jordan). Calamity soon followed. First the Hebrew man died. His sons married Moab women and each had a daughter. After ten years, both of the sons also died leaving widow Naomi with two young daughter-in-laws.  With no one to help and grim prospects, the loom of agonizing death by starvation rapidly developed.

 When Naomi heard that the Lord provided food for His people, the three set out on the dusty road to Judah. In great despair, Naomi did not wish her sons wives to suffer in her hardship and despair. Therefore, she urged her daughter-in-laws to return to the home of their mother’s to worship their gods and have prospects of food provided by their mother’s family. Only one daughter-in-law, Ruth clung tearfully to Naomi and begged to share her hardship and to love the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Ruth tearfully urged Naomi, saying, “Your people shall be my people and your God, My God”.

Chapter one of Ruth illustrates the love and unfaltering loyalty of a family member (daughter-in-law) who had three strikes against her; because she was poor, a foreigner, and a woman. The other daughter-in-law named Orpah meaning ‘back of neck by turning her back on her mother-in-law to return to worship other gods of Moab.  Ruth tearfully clung to Naomi whose name means ‘pleasant’. Even the name of Ruth means ‘lovely friend’ who had the unfaltering family loyalty of which the Messiah, Y’shua Christ Jesus desired as His beloved ancestor. It is a beautiful novella, a love story that will even touch a heart of stone. Next week the next message will continue with this touching episode of true love. But now let us turn to the words of Ruth’s descendant, Christ Jesus. He is the grandest and greatest;

With the truest love that most of mankind seeks; but seldom find. In the Gospel of Apostle John, Chapter 15: 9-11, the Messiah says, “As the father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in MY love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in MY love, just as I have kept MY Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that MY joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full”.

 ** Christ, ‘the Word’ directed the entire written words of the entire Bible (John 1:1). Christ Jesus continued His words of love in Chapter 15: 12-13, saying, “This is MY commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you (Leviticus 19:18, Matthew 19:19). Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends”.  ** The holy and pure Lamb of God (Messiah, Y’shua Christ Jesus) who loved all mankind so much that He shed his blood on Passover eve to wash away the sins of those that prove their love by keeping our Creator’s commandments.  Show your love today by turning to love from hatred of even your enemies. Show your love today by humbling yourself and asking the Lord to forgive your filthy rotten sins and help you to sin no more!

MY love, just as I have kept MY Father’s commandments and abide (continue) in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that MY joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full”.  **Have joy today! Surrender to the King of Kings and Lord of Lord’s! Turn away from the desires of the world and please our Creator with the enduring love of Ruth and the Messiah, Y’shua Christ Jesus!
