Real Life

Deuteronomy 8:3 ** So He (The Lord) humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. ** The Lord continues in verse six saying, “Therefore you shall keep the    commandments of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him”.

Our Heavenly Father trained the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for forty years, generously providing food, clothing and shelter. He used His own chosen children to set an example for all mankind. However, they failed and perished, never reaching the Promised Land. Our loving Father destroyed as many as 3 million of His children that were baptized as they crossed under the waters of the Red Sea, circa 1446 BC. They perished in the desert because they failed to keep the commandments of the Lord your God and failed to walk in His ways and to fear Him and abide for forty years in obedience to His promise to give real life, everlasting life to those that profess and do the love of their creator.

The love of our creator used His own children to symbolize separation from the world with physical purity and perfection of His laws of love. The Tanakh (Old Testament) ceremonial laws functioned as the means to separate the Israelites from the surrounding pagan tribes. The wall dividing present day children of God from the Old Testament ordinances is the regular blood of an animal as the sacrificial system of atonement (forgiveness of sin). These ordinances (law of man) has been removed by the Messiah (Immanuel, God with us – Isaiah 7:14).  That temporary arrangement before the coming of God as a man is no longer necessary since Jesus, the perfect Lamb of God has paid the sacrificial atonement for all that believe and keep the commandments of the Lord your God and continue to walk in His ways.

Matthew 3:17 ** .And suddenly a voice came from heaven saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”  ** John the Baptist, clothed in camel’s hair, baptizing people in the Jordan and calling for repentance for the kingdom of heaven is at hand – Matthew 3:2. This message preceded the arrival and announcement of God’s son by three months. John resembled Elijah the Tishbite (Second Kings 1:8) and was called Elijah by the Prophet Malachi in Chapter 4 verse 5 which says, “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord”.  ** Several of the Lord’s prophets advised the people with the same message as John (Ezekiel 18:32, Jeremiah 15:19 and Isaiah 59:20). Each message informed the people the coming Messiah was soon at hand.

When the Messiah came to John for baptism, John could not understand why the world’s only sin free man and God’s only true son who was born of God’s Holy Spirit would wish to be baptized. However, as stated by Jesus (meaning savior) the baptism would “fulfill all righteousness”.  This statement inaugurated God’s prophesied saving of mankind in the ministry of Jesus which would culminate in His death on the cross for cleansing and salvation. Only the holy Lamb of God without spot or blemish could accomplish and restore man to become adopted sons and daughters in the soon coming world of real life without sin. Once baptized and the voice from heaven announced His pleasure with His son, the Holy Spirit transported Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil (to teach men how to overcome temptation). After being weakened by fasting for 40 days and nights, the tempter then approached Jesus saying, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread”. Jesus replied, “It is written (Deut. 8:3) ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”    ** Jesus continued to rebuke the devil with each additional temptation by quoting God’s word written by the prophets. Finally, when the devil saw he was a loser, he departed, leaving the angels to minister to the Lord Jesus.

Thus began the enlightening ministry of the Messiah who became poor so as not to attract attention to the unworthy and greedy world. In His short ministry of relentless teaching He never tired by people who wanted to hear the word of God. He tirelessly performed many miracles, healing the lame restoring sight to the blind, raising people from the dead, feeding five thousand hungry people with five loves and two fishes. The many people that constantly followed were also hungry to hear the special word of the Master and carry this word to others. He gave and gave, with constant smiling gentle kindness, fighting against the wiles of the ever lurking devil. He gave till the last drop of blood was shed to wash away our sins so believers could live the real life forever by listening and doing every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. As it is written in scripture, three days later God raised His son and many witnessed His ascending into heaven where He now sits on the right hand of the one and only God until His soon return.

The devil was at work even when the Messiah was brought to life. When the angel of the Lord ascended to roll away the tombstone, the company of Roman soldiers became as dead men. The Temple rulers’ generiously paid them to lie and say the disciples stole Him away. The devil had convinced them that the Messiah (Son of God) was working for Satan when performing many miracles (Matthew 28:13). However, the Apostle Paul states in 1 Cor. 15:17, saying, “If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins”. ** The devil rapidly infested the Colosse Church (Greek then but Turkish now) within 30 years after the death of Christ. The Christians strictly followed and honored God’s Commandments and feasts as did Christ and all His disciples. However, the pagan infiltrators which worshiped their sun god on Sunday ridiculed them for becoming Christian and following God’s Laws. ** Colossians 2:16 ** .So let no one judge you in food and drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or Sabbaths.** Mark the time as our new home draws quickly near for those that repent and obey the laws of our God!
